Video is an asset type and category in the Creator Store. They consist of a sequence of moving images, and can also be coupled with an audio track. Videos are currently only used by VideoFrame light iconVideoFrame dark iconVideoFrame and VideoPlayer light iconVideoPlayer dark iconVideoPlayer instances.

Just like audio assets, videos not made by Roblox Roblox Admin BadgeRoblox is the official account representing Roblox Corporation. Learn more. can't be made public to the Creator Store. However, sharing between friends and communities is possible.


Uploading

Only ID-verified users can upload video assets. The .mp4 and .mov formats are the only ones currently supported when uploading. Each video costs 2,000 Robux to upload, with an upload limit of 20 per day.

Each video has a time limit of 5 minutes and resolution limit of 4096x2160. Videos must not exceed 3.75 Gigabytes.

History

On February 29, 2020, Roblox temporarily hosted a test game showcasing the new "Video Streaming" feature with a re-run of the 6th Annual Bloxys.[1] The VideoFrame light iconVideoFrame dark iconVideoFrame class was added earlier in engine release 414 on January 4. Use of videos and video streaming were subsequently shown during the 7th Annual Bloxy Awards and One World: Together At Home events.

Videos were officially added to the Creator Store (then called Library) on September 14, 2020, with 50 community-made videos already public.[2]

The ability for ID and age-verified users to upload videos was introduced as a beta feature on October 4, 2023.[3] They initially costed 2000 Robux to upload individually.

For moderation purposes, uploaded videos initially only supported English if text or speaking was present in the video. Support for Spanish came on September 30, 2024[4] and support for Portuguese, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean came on January 16, 2025.[5]
