The default face from March 25, 2026, to present.
The Normal Face is the default face for avatars and was the only face available until others were made. The face mainly consists of a basic face with a smile.
History
The original face was drawn by David Baszucki[1] on October 4th, 2005 using a free Dell-branded paint program,[2] and shows two small dot eyes with a V-like smile. The face, however, appeared to be squeezed in-game due to the UV map of the head mesh at the time. This created the closer V-like shape that the face is recognized for.
In late 2008, a second version of the face was made, featuring a more refined and slightly thinner version of the original.
Controversy
A similar version of this face called Smile was released on January 27, 2014, and was on sale until July 26, 2023, where it was replaced with the Stevie Standard dynamic head. However, the 'Smile' face was previously 10 Robux, causing users who purchased it whilst it cost robux to be mad and demanding refunds.
On April 23, 2015, the Smile face replaced the normal face, causing lots of people, preferably the older, more nostalgic players, be mad at Roblox. Because of this, it caused lots of controversy. On May 7, 2015, due to the hate this small change made, Roblox removed the smile texture and replaced it with remastered version of the original default face. This update made users happy again due to the face resembling an almost-identical look to the original default face.

Trivia
This section is a trivia section. Please relocate any relevant information into other sections of the article.
- Through an asset viewer, players had found out that tarabyte's test face "Face" is a version of the original face (from before April 23, 2015) with the mouth and eyes in their own separate boxes and an X over the eyes.
- The face from 2005 - 2008 was originally the same as the one seen on the Bighead and BiggerHead. It is different due to the head mesh handling images differently.
- Players who have equipped the Normal face from around 2009 - 2013 sometimes experience a head glitch where the face appears slightly distorted with the head, sometimes squeezing heavily as if going off the mesh. This can be fixed by going into first person. This can also be observed on other players at that time as well.
- The Stevie Standard head will appear as the default smile on R6 with the mouth being slightly wider.
- The default face can be found as face.png in the Roblox client folder and can be used with scripts using the location "rbxasset://textures/face.png".
- The 2D face can no longer be worn in R15 as of March 25, 2026.
The face glitch that occurred in around 2009–2013.
